Chitwan National Park
Chitwan
Nepal below the mountains.
Overview
Chitwan is the counterpoint to the high Himalaya — a UNESCO World Heritage lowland of dense sal forest and floodplain grassland along the Rapti River. Guided jungle walks and canoe trips bring you close to greater one-horned rhinos, wild elephants and, if the forest allows, a Bengal tiger's trail. Tharu villages along the park's edge keep their own distinct culture and cuisine.
