Shey Phoksundo, 5,115m
Dolpo
Nepal's last hidden valley.
Overview
Dolpo is Nepal at its most remote — a high, dry plateau of scattered villages, ancient monasteries and the improbable turquoise of Phoksundo Lake. Crossing into Upper Dolpo means days without a road, a shop, or a signal, walking alongside yak caravans on trails that have barely changed in centuries.
