Kathmandu Valley
Kathmandu
The valley of temples.
Overview
Kathmandu Valley holds seven UNESCO World Heritage sites within a single urban sprawl — Durbar Squares of carved wood and brick, the all-seeing eyes of Swayambhunath, the vast mandala of Boudhanath, and the cremation ghats of Pashupatinath along the Bagmati. It rewards slow wandering: narrow Newari streets, courtyard temples, and incense drifting from doorways that have stood for centuries.
