Langtang valley and Himalaya, Nepal

Langtang Lirung, 7,227m

Langtang

Nepal's nearest wilderness.

Overview

Langtang sits closer to Kathmandu than any other major trekking region, yet feels utterly remote. The valley trail follows the Langtang Khola through forest and yak pasture to Kyanjin Gompa, where the peaks of the Langtang Himal rise directly from the valley floor. Above it, the turquoise lakes of Gosaikunda sit at over 4,300 metres, held sacred by Hindu pilgrims and Buddhist practitioners alike.
