Few treks change character as dramatically as the Annapurna Circuit. It begins in terraced farmland and rhododendron forest, climbs through Manang's high, dry Tibetan-influenced villages, crosses the Thorong La at 5,416 metres, and descends into the pilgrimage town of Muktinath and the Kali Gandaki gorge beyond.
